They can make you look taller, force you to correct your posture, stand straighter, look more poised and in control. Some help you run faster and jump higher. They protect you and keep you warm.
They can be a perfect fit – comfortable and easy to live with, or, you can try to MAKE them fit in which case they’ll end up causing you no end of pain and suffering. What are we talking about? SHOES.
They say so much about who we are and what’s important to us. Here at Drawing Down the Moon we’ve been discussing the importance of good footwear and the impression it can immediately give on the all important first date.
We know we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but we all admit to glancing down at someone’s feet and thinking ‘Oh heavens! What were they thinking?’ Wearing the right kind of shoes can enhance your appearance a great deal – but can it end a relationship before it even begins?

Importance of Shoes
Shoes are one of the most important accessories for men as well as women. Here are some of the most important factors to consider:
- Shoes are practical – they allow you to move about comfortably and safely, protecting your feet from the external effects of weather as well as protect them against other harmful substances.
- Shoes are stylish– they allow you to perfect your appearance and thus satisfy your passion for fashion accessories.
- Shoes help you to leave a lasting impression on others – This is why you need to select a pair carefully. The choice of a right type of a shoe for a particular occasion and to go with a particular dress is what you need to do otherwise instead of leaving a right impression on others a pair of shoes can play havoc on your social image.
- Shoes are expressive – people judge your personality and your taste on seeing the kind of shoes that you wear. Those who choose the shoes that are chic and attractive tell of their great taste and aesthetic sense.
It’s worth remembering that all shoes, like people, have a sole/soul, (tortured metaphor alert) so regardless of how shabby or unfashionable they may seem, whether it’s a single layer or a complex multiple structure, the core is there, and that’s what matters . (after all – you can always take them shopping…..)
And remember –
If the shoe fits, feel free to wear it.
