What do you like most about working at Drawing Down the Moon?

The Team! I first heard about Drawing Down the Moon as a teenager, after seeing their adverts in Private Eye. I was thrilled to become the CEO of Drawing Down the Moon in early 2016. It is a huge privilege for me to be a part of this exciting company, and to be so warmly welcomed by DDM’s incredibly friendly team of award winning matchmakers.

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

A good friend had found it tough to find a partner in London. She chose Drawing Down the Moon through recommendation, and on only her second date met “The One”! Update from there – she is happily married and has moved to the States with her now husband.

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

The fewer limitations you place on the type of person you would like to meet, the higher your chance of success. Be open!

“Our passion is to help love blossom by helping busy, single professionals find their ultimate soul mate. At Drawing Down the Moon we have been doing this for over 30 years, not only making strong matches, but by encouraging and helping our clients through providing support and ongoing date coaching.

I also have a passion for education and worked in the 1970s to motivate and support those who’d missed out on educational opportunities and help them realise their aspirations in life. A lot of what I learned there has been helpful with my work as a matchmaker, and as a mentor to the accomplished matchmaking team at DDM. So too has my training in life coaching and counselling techniques.

I’ve been lucky in love and happily married for thirty years to my wonderful husband, Sebastian. I hope that I can help others to know the happiness we’ve experienced together.

Our mission is simple: to help you find and keep that ultimate loving relationship. We want to leave you feeling amazed and utterly delighted by your experience with Drawing Down the Moon.”

What do you like most about working at Drawing Down the Moon?

The dating, marriage and engagement success stories! I believe everyone has a soul-mate out there and I am so lucky to work in a team of people who are passionate about helping people to find theirs and supporting them through the process.

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

When I watched a video of two of our Client’s making their vows to one other at their wedding which was incredibly moving and then being shown a picture of their first child! It was so heartwarming to think that we played a part in making it happen.

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

Go into Matchmaking with an open mind. The person who you think is “your type” may not actually be! Love is not a list so being as open as possible is key to dating success.

What do you like most about working at Drawing Down the Moon?

I love telling people what I do for a living and it’s obviously a great dinner party conversation. Everyone knows a fabulous single person who hasn’t considered working with a matchmaker before!

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

I introduced a couple late in 2019. His membership was ending, and her membership had just begun – but I knew they had to meet! They clicked as friends immediately and their relationship took off from there. March 2020, lockdown hit, they took the plunge and moved in together. It was a risk, but they went for it and my first “Covid Couple” have never been happier!

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

Be willing to compromise on your idea of what a perfect partner may be. It shouldn’t be based on height, age or hobbies. Look at other factors for a connection; someone who is kind, that you could be friends with, laugh with and truly enjoy your time with. These connections are what is really important and will have the best chance of moving on to a successful relationship!

Is that we are working every day with amazing, accomplished men and women from all walks of life, with real feelings and emotions. I love getting to know our clients and finding out what makes them tick. I have to pinch myself every day that I get to help people find the love of their lives!

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

Don’t be too prescriptive! If it hasn’t worked for you in the past, it could be because you have a huge list of unachievable qualities you’re looking for. Get rid of all those preconceived ideas of who you should be with! Relax into it and ENJOY the process, and be open to all the opportunities that come your way- after all it’s such an exciting adventure.

For me every successful match is a delight. What I enjoy most is working closely with my clients and seeing them grow in confidence to date again, particularly following difficult personal circumstances and relationship setbacks. It is a wonderful reward to be the catalyst for their hopes materialising into meaningful connections and relationships.

What would you suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

When you approach dating with an open mindset anything is possible. Don’t try to regulate what you can’t control, enjoy those butterflies and let things unfold. Be comfortable with yourself and with your intentions, there is no need to tone yourself down and be loved for who you are.

It’s about finding the person you want to live your life with, both of you, going in the same direction. Have an open heart, be positive and enjoy the dating process.

What do you like most about working at Drawing Down the Moon?

What could be more rewarding than working with an amazing team bringing our clients together in the name of LOVE. Everyday is a different day. Each client has their own story to tell, and I’m honoured to be part of their journey, finding love and happiness.

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

For me, every success is a celebration. A success for me is hearing from a client how well their date went, and the next one and so on. The news from our clients of an engagement, a wedding or a baby being born. It’s the positivity in a call or an email knowing that we play a part in real people’s happiness

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

“The Spark,” it is so misunderstood, yes it is 100% real, but it doesn’t always start on the first date, it can grow, it does grow, we know for sure that it does! Keep an open mind, be honest with yourself, open your heart and feel the love come to you.

Be open to meeting people you would never usually meet in your day to day life and do not restrict yourself by focusing on things like height or hair colour! Be as open minded as possible.

So many things! The daily team matchmaking, meeting new, fascinating people and, of course, the wonderful team! I love telling people what I get to do for a living and being a key part of someone’s love story is a true privilege.

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

One of the highlights of my day is hearing about successful dates – it never fails to bring a smile to my face! One I remembered stands out – I was taking feedback on a first date. They met during the pandemic, so it was over Zoom. I could barely understand her wonderful feedback because she was giggling and laughing so much, giddy doesn’t cover it!
Needless to say they are still together and very happy indeed.

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

Be honest, open and trust the process – after 37 years, we know what we are talking about!

There are so many different things including client success stories and trusting relationships built between our clients but the highlight has to be the amazing team! Everyone at DDM are the kindest and most passionate individuals that I have met – working with them is just a pleasure!

What is your favourite matchmaking success story?

Every time a client tells me that they had a lovely first date and are excited to see where the relationship will go is a success to me! I love hearing about the details of the date… maybe a fun coffee date with deep conversations, maybe a romantic drink in a bar with instant rapport, sometimes it even ends with a little kiss and lovely feedback for me.

What is the one thing you would suggest, as a Matchmaker, to help people find Love?

Be open-minded and patient. We always remind our clients that Love is in fact, not a list. It’s never about checking the boxes and who knows – often the right person is someone that you least expect!

Sometimes people find love with the first person they are matched with and write in to say how we must be matchmaking geniuses. We take that as a huge compliment, but most often, successful matches happen quickly when people are open on the type of person they would like to meet and wholeheartedly embrace the process!

The nicest people sometimes suffer the worst dating luck. Perhaps their partner has left them or they find themselves widowed. When you have gone through this and start dating again, it can be far from a smooth ride, at least to begin with.

That is why it is so good that the experienced and talented matchmakers at Drawing Down the Moon are able to step in and provide ongoing date coaching, support and mentoring throughout the matchmaking experience. Our clients find comfort that no matter their background or relationship history their matchmaker looks after them and has their best interests at heart.

My favourite stories are those where some regular person who has been plugging away at dating for some time with cheerful optimism despite the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, goes on to meet their lifelong partner through us.
