What happens when you host an awards night in the middle of a time when the entertainment capital of the world is also serving as one of the planet’s de facto dope smoking capitals? Essentially, you get a chance for Hollywood’s biggest A-Listers to do what Entourage taught us they were doing all along: get high in as grand a manner as possible.
Of course, the object of the Oscars is not to get people blazed, but the awards show’s traditional swag bag — the insanely valuable contents of which have been dropping jaws annually for a good while now — has taken a noticeable change in direction this year.
While last year’s swag bag carried the prevailing theme of celebrating the recent boom in medical marijuana dispensation, this year’s bag is slightly more balanced — although it does include a 24K gold Vape Pen, CBD-infused simple syrup for barkeepers, and a guided cannabis edible tasting.
The 25 acting and directing nominees at this year’s ceremony will be delivered their much-sought-after swag bag before the awards, and while efforts of years past have been riddled with high-end beauty products and fancy gadgetry, 2019’s swag bag has taken a more holistic approach, focusing mostly on experiences (read: expensive holidays), fancy wellness products and food. Once again, the highlight comes in the form of a 12 day cruise with Scenic Cruises, but stays at Auberge Resorts and Hawaii’s Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger are also thrown in for good measure.
